Dr Yas Aljubouri is the practice principal at Giffnock Orthodontic Centre. He graduated as a dentist in 1991 (BDS – Hons). Up until 1997 Yas worked as a Senior House Officer (SHO) in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and in Orthodontics both in England (Wexham Park Hospital, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, Cheltenham General Hospital) and in Scotland (Queen Margaret Hospital). Yas obtained his Specialist Orthodontic Certificate – MOrthRCS from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2003 following his 3 year Specialist Orthodontic training in Glasgow Dental Hospital & School where he also completed his Orthodontic MSc in 2002. He also has both an LDSRCS and an MFDSRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Although Yas was born in Leicester, he was primarily raised in North Africa and the Middle East and ultimately moved to Scotland in 1997. He has always had an interest in Orthodontics from a very young age when he had been curious why many of his friends and peers had braces and yet he didn’t.
What Yas enjoys most about owning his own practice is the opportunity to solve the challenges which every day presents. He is very proud of the patient results which he points out is only possible with the help of the whole GOC team. “We offer a good service at a fair cost and communicate with our patient through the entire treatment. I’m so committed to answering every question that my patients may have that I even give them my own personal mobile number should they need advice during treatment”.
In his spare time Yas likes to do the small things that aren’t always possible with a young family. A trip to the theatre or cinema with his wife is something he describes as a huge and rare treat
