Metal Braces

Metal braces, also referred to as train tracks, are fixed braces made from stainless steel which means they are silver in colour. They are the most common and probably the most recognised type of brace, having been used for many decades.

These braces are made up of metal brackets which are stuck on to your teeth with a special adhesive that allows us to remove them safely at the end of your treatment. You will also have a wire that is fitted into these brackets, and we secure this wire in place with small elastic bands that go around the bracket. These small bands come in a variety of different colours and we will give you the option at each visit to choose a colour. If you prefer a more discreet option there are silver elastics you can choose which will blend in with the metal brackets.

Under the NHS, the metal braces are the only option available. These braces can be offered privately as well.
